Free COVID-19 testing sites in Oregon

Updated 07/01/2022: Additional July 4th closures have been added. In Medford, the site at The Merrick has closed, and a new site at the Rogue Valley Mall has been added. The sites in Eugene at The Hult Center and in Woodburn at the Hoodview Church of God have closed permanently.

Previous updates: Several sites on this page will be closed Monday, July 4, in recognition of the Independence Day holiday. Check back for updates. The site in Newport has adjusted hours on July 4. The site at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem will close permanently after July 3. July dates have been added to several sites. The Salem Mega Foods location is switching its hours from Saturdays to Sundays. The last day for operations at the Portland State University site in Portland will be June 30. The last day for operations at the Jackson County Expo Center site in Medford will be June 30.

Due to high demand for testing, some sites do require an appointment. Links to book an appointment are included for each site listed in this post where required.

Do I need to get tested for COVID-19?

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or if you were in close contact with someone with COVID-19, you should get tested as soon as possible, even if you’ve been vaccinated or boosted. Close contact means being within six feet of someone for 15 minutes or more over the course of a day, with or without a face mask.

If you are unvaccinated, don’t have symptoms and are getting tested because you had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, it’s best to test as soon as you learn of your exposure and again five days following your exposure.

If you are vaccinated, don’t have symptoms and are getting tested because you had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, it’s best to test five days following your exposure.

If I’ve received at least my primary vaccine series, should I still get tested? What if I’ve also been boosted?

Vaccinated individuals should get tested if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or were in close contact with someone with COVID-19.

You can get a free COVID-19 test at one of the testing sites listed below. If you are testing to travel, check with the airline and/or place of destination to verify what type of test is needed. You do not need insurance to get tested. Some sites also offer COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters; please see our vaccination site blog post for those details.
